"Birthday Rule" Enrollment in Maryland

Under a new Maryland law, effective July 2023, Maryland residents who are already enrolled in a Medicare Supplement plan, from CareFirst or another carrier, have a new yearly enrollment option.

You can transfer to an available Medicare Supplement plan of equal or lesser value beginning on your birthday and ending 30 days after your birthday each year, without going through underwriting. (That means no medical exam is required.)
