Our Essential plan offers all the benefits of Medicare at lower costs. It also includes additional coverage for vision, dental and fitness.
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Advantage Complete (PPO)
Our Complete plan includes all the benefits of the Essential plan. However, it offers lower copays, larger allowances for dental and vision, and additional benefits.
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Advantage Salute (PPO)
Salute complements your existing VA or TFL coverage by allowing you to see doctors in your current VA network as well as those in the CareFirst Medicare PPO network.
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Advantage DualPrime (HMO-SNP)
DualPrime is a dual special needs plan for individuals with both Medicare and Medicaid. It combines medical, hospital, prescription drug coverage and other benefits into a single plan.

Please Note
- To join during open enrollment, we must receive your completed form by December 7.
- Your will receive a bill for your plan premium. You can choose to have the amount deducted from your bank or monthly benefit account (e.g., Social Security, Railroad Retirement).

What to Know Before You Enroll
You’ll need:
- Your Medicare number (on the red, white and blue card)
- Your permanent address and phone number
To join one of our plans, you must:
- Be a United States citizen or lawfully present in the U.S.
- Live in the plan’s service area
- Have both Medicare Part A and Part B
You can join a plan:
- During the yearly open enrollment period (October 15–December 7). Coverage begins January 1.
- Within 3 months of first getting Medicare
- During other specific, approved periods

If you want to join a plan but don’t have a permanent residence, you may use a post office box, shelter or clinic address, or other address where you receive mail (e.g., social security checks) as your permanent residence address.
When we receive your application, we'll notify you. Once Medicare confirms your enrollment, we'll let you know when your coverage begins.
We'll also send you a welcome packet and your new member ID card(s).
Medicare Supplement Plans
MedPlus, our Medicare Supplement plans, help cover most of the costs not covered by Original Medicare, including deductibles, copays and coinsurance.

- MedPlus plans do not include prescription drug coverage.
- To add prescription drug coverage, sign up for Medicare Part D.
What to Know Before You Enroll
You’ll need:
- Your Medicare number (on the red, white and blue card)
- Your permanent address and phone number
To join a MedPlus plan, you must:
- Have Medicare Parts A and B now or before the effective date of the plan
- Not be in enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan
- You can join a Medicare Supplement plan at any time.
- It’s easiest to join during open enrollment—the first 6 months after you turn 65 and are enrolled in Part B.
- If you apply outside of your initial open enrollment period, you may be required to go through underwriting.
Once you're approved for coverage, we’ll let you know. We’ll mail your CareFirst member ID card(s), plus a postcard showing you how to access your plan documents online through My Account. We’ll also send you your first bill with instructions for enrolling in automated payments.
