Beginning July 1, 2008, the State has expanded coverage for eligible dependent children! Effective July 1, 2008, you may cover a dependent child through the end of the month in which they turn age 25, as long as they continue to meet all eligibility requirements. See your State Benefit Coordinator for further details. Changes to your health insurance can be made through the State of Maryland from April 23 - May 14, 2008.
- Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
State of Maryland PPO members will be receiving a new combined ID card for medical and vision.The new card will have a new prefix as well as ID number which must be presented to healthcare providers for services on or after July 1. This change is for administrative purposes only; health benefits and physician networks have not changed. Change for PPO Over 65 Members: Your new ID card will carry the name of the State retiree and will be issued in duplicate for a spouse when appropriate.
- Point of Service (POS)
State of Maryland POS members will not receive a new ID card. They should continue to use their current combined ID cards for medical and vision services.
- CareFirst BlueChoice (HMO)
State of Maryland BlueChoice members will not receive new medical ID cards. They should continue to use their current medical ID card. They will receive a new vision ID card. The new card will have a new prefix as well as ID number which must be presented to healthcare providers for services on or after July 1. This change is for administrative purposes only; vision benefits have not changed.
