What Does Your New Member ID Card Look Like?
CareFirst began sending new ID cards to its members in July 2009.
You may have received a new ID card for one of the following reasons:
- You selected a new health care plan with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield effective July 1, 2009, or
- You were an existing State of Maryland member with benefits through CareFirst and your card was redesigned to provide a consistent format to display your member information, benefit information and logo. The new format has made ID cards more user friendly for you and your doctors.

(Please note that ID cards may vary by product, network or Medicare eligibility.)
Special Note: Please destroy your old member ID card(s) and use your new card for services rendered on or after July 1, 2009. Failure to use your new card may result in delayed claims processing. Please show your member ID card to your provider during each visit to ensure the most up-to-date card is on file.
