In an effort to offer the highest level of customer satisfaction and product plans, the State of Maryland and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield have added the following benefit enhancements to the product plans offered to State employees.
These enhancements are effective July 1, 2009 and will be offered throughout the plan year.
- The CareFirst Exclusive Provider Organizaiton (EPO) product has been added this year. This product offers hassle-free benefit plan requiring no referrals and no PCP.
- ID Cards - Prior to the July 1, 2009 renewal, all CareFirst EPO, PPO and POS members will receive new, combined medical/vision ID cards. These cards will arrive the last week of June.
- All CareFirst State of Maryland plans have extended annual physicals for kids from age 13 to age 19.
- Same Sex Domestic Partners are included with expanded State of Maryland coverage. Beginning July 1, 2009, same sex domestic partners and their dependants will be covered under any of the CareFirst health care coverage plans. Eligibility questions should be directed to the State Benefit Coordinators.
