Select or Change Your Primary Care Physician (PCP)

Current Point of Service (POS) plan participants must select a PCP or claims may be denied. To select or change your PCP, follow the steps below:

How to Select or Change Your PCP Online:

1. Log onto My Account.
   Note: If you have not registered, click "First Time Users" to register and select your User ID and Password.
   
   
2. Click "Select Your PCP" or "Change Your PCP"
   
   
3. Search the Directory for your new PCP. Your search will only show providers who are accepting new patients.
   
   
4. Click the "Select" button besides the provider's listing and complete the PCP Change Request form.

How to Select or Change Your PCP by Telephone or Mail:

By telephone or by mail, the processes for selecting or changing your PCP are the same.

Important Notes:

• Please call the provider's office you wish to visit to confirm he or she still participates with CareFirst.
• If you need to visit a provider and you have misplaced or lost your member ID Card, you can log into My Account and order a new card and print a verification of coverage letter (Note: Select the "Request a New ID Card" option to access the verification of coverage letter. You will receive an additional set of cards in the mail.)
