Select or Change Your PCP

When you enroll in a Point of Service (POS) plan, you must select a PCP to manage your primary medical care.

 

To select or change your PCP:

  • Log onto My Account.
  • If you have not registered, click "First Time Users" to register and select your User ID and Password.
  • Click "Select Your PCP" or "Change Your PCP"
  • Search the Directory for your new PCP. Your search will only show providers who are accepting new patients.
  • Click the "Select" button besides the provider's listing and complete the PCP Change Request form.

 

 

The process for selecting or changing a PCP by phone or mail is simple.

  • First, find a Doctor online
  • Then, inform CareFirst of your selection:
    • By Phone, call Customer Service at 410-581-3601/1-800-225-0131
    • By Mail, download, complete and return the PCP Selection Form (34KB, 2 pgs.)Adobe   Acrobat Reader. The mailing address is provided on the PCP Selection Form.

 

 

In addition to notifying your plan of your change in PCP, please also consider taking the following:

  • Please call the provider's office you wish to visit to confirm he or she still participates with CareFirst.
  • If you need to visit a provider and you have misplaced or lost your member ID Card, you can log into My Account.
    • There, you can order a new card and print a verification of coverage letter.
    • Select the "Request a New ID Card" option to access the verification of coverage letter.
    • You will receive an additional set of cards in the mail.
