When you enroll in Point of Service (POS) or CareFirst BlueChoice (HMO), you must select a PCP or your claims may be denied. To select or change your PCP, follow the steps below:
How to Select or Change Your PCP Online:
- Log onto My Account.
Note: If you have not registered, click "First Time Users" to register and select your User ID and Password.
- Click "Select Your PCP" or "Change Your PCP"
- Search the Directory for your new PCP. Your search will only show providers who are accepting new patients.
- Click the "Select" button besides the provider's listing and complete the PCP Change Request form.
How to Select or Change Your PCP by Telephone or Mail:
By telephone or by mail, the processes for selecting or changing your PCP are the same.

- Inform CareFirst of your selection by phone or by mail:

Important Notes:
- Please call the provider's office you wish to visit to confirm he or she still participates with CareFirst.
- If you need to visit a provider before you receive your new card, you can log into My Account and print a verification of coverage letter (Note: Select the Request a New ID card to access the verification of coverage letter. You will receive an additional set of cards when you use this option.).
