Important Member ID Card Information
What's New with Member ID Cards?
All CareFirst Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and Point of Service (POS) members will receive new, combined medical/vision ID cards the last week of June 2009, prior to the July 1, 2009 renewal.
As we strive to continue to provide the best quality service to our members, CareFirst, along with the BlueCross BlueShield Association, has mandated that member identification (ID) cards be reformatted for 2009.
The goal of the ID card redesign is to ensure all logos, service numbers and disclosure statements have a consistent location on the card, regardless of which Blues Plan a member resides with.
The new format should be more user-friendly, allowing members and providers to easily find the information necessary to receive (or render) care. We are confident that this new design will make our cards easier to read and understand, and will lead to increased member and provider satisfaction.
Don't worry. Your health plan benefits are not changing because of the ID card redesign. Membership numbers will remain the same as well as all pertinent benefit information currently appearing on the cards.
