Enhancements to CareFirst Direct

CareFirst and CareFirst BlueChoice have improved our services on CareFirst Direct to make it easier for you to gather member information.

Updated Benefit Information

You will notice slight changes to the layout of benefits details displayed on CareFirst Direct. These changes are in preparation for future updates that will include up-to-date information on deductibles and out-of-pocket costs for members.

Changes in Out-of-Area Claims Status

In the coming months, additional information will be provided on claim responses that come from BlueExchange. Once updated, if additional information about how a claim was adjudicated can be provided by the member's Home Plan, the new information will be displayed in the claim response on CareFirst Direct.

New and Improved Message Center

Changes have also been made to the Message Center. This allows CareFirst and CareFirst BlueChoice to communicate timely notifications regarding outages or any interruptions to our business.

Maryland Benefit Information

To assist you in submitting the appropriate information and expediting the claims process, if a service requires benefit authorization, you will see this requirement displayed in the benefit details.
