CMS Announces 12-Month Contingency Plan for NPI Compliance

On Monday, April 2, 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)  announced in a press release that they will implement a contingency plan for covered entities (health plans) that will not meet the May 23, 2007 National Provider Identifier (NPI) compliance date.
