How often do you encounter patients with insurance cards from other Blue plan service areas?
As a typical health care provider, it's probably not uncommon. In our mobile society, people seek healthcare services where and when they need them. In these cases, physicians and other providers usually strive to provide necessary and appropriate treatment, regardless of BCBS plan affiliation.
If you and your office staff are responsible for submitting health insurance claims, you need the information in this module.
This training module explains what you need to know about BlueCard and how the program works. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the three lessons, after which you should be able to:
- Determine BlueCard eligibility and coverage for out-of-area BlueCross BlueShield members
- Submit BlueCard claims correctly
- Use BlueCard terminology appropriately to coordinate claims
