Androgel Now Preferred Drug, Testim Moved to Non-Preferred
Beginning April 1, 2008, the preferred drug (Tier 2) for testosterone replacement therapy will be Androgel. Testim will move to the non-preferred drug tier (Tier 3) and will not have restrictions, resulting in a higher out-of-pocket cost for those who use Testim. Members who are current Testim users (those who have had a claim processed in the past six months) will continue to pay the Tier 2 copayment until June 30, 2008. Beginning July 1, 2008, the higher copayment will apply. If you use Testim, you may want to check with your doctor to find out if Androgel or another alternative can be used. Current Testim users are not required to change to Androgel, but higher copayments will apply.
