Nasonex and Rhinocort Aqua Now Non-Preferred Drugs
Beginning April 1, 2007, Nasonex and Rhinocort Aqua will move to the non-preferred drug tier – resulting in the highest out-of-pocket cost for these prescription drugs.
Fluticasone and Flunisolide are lower-cost generic, or tier one, formulary alternatives. These drugs are used to help relieve nasal congestion and allergy symptoms.
Anyone currently taking Nasonex or Rhinocort Aqua may want to check with their doctor to find out if the generic alternatives will work for them. CareFirst does not require that its members change medications.
CareFirst’s most current drug information, including a complete list of drugs and their levels of coverage, is available online at www.carefirst.com/rx.
