Draft Policy: Sleep Studies
Comment: One comment was received which referenced the CMS Intermediary Manual, section 3112.5, which includes the
statement "Polysomnography for chronic insomnia is not covered."
Response: While the body of our LCD stated that sleep studies are not indicated for insomnia, there was an inconsistency with
some of the codes which were in the document. Therefore, some of the codes that relate primarily to insomnia were
deleted. Reference draft Sleep Studies policy out for notice period on August 26, 2005.
