CareFirst Transitions to New ID Card Processing Operation
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. (CareFirst) continue
to deliver on our commitment of providing members with high-quality and efficient
health care administrative services. Please take a moment to review the following
information regarding improvements to our ID card processing operation.
During the fourth quarter 2005, CareFirst will transition its internal ID card
processing operation to Personix, a leading provider of business-critical communications
to the health care industry. For more than 25 years, Personix has provided plastic
card manufacturing, personalization and mailing services and high-volume laser
printing, mailing and electronic document delivery solutions to more than 9,000
clients worldwide.
With this change, CareFirst expects to increase the accuracy, efficiency and
timeliness of its ID card operation. Should you receive a new ID card, you might
notice a difference in card stock. Please note, however, that the content and
format of the new ID cards will not change.
You will continue to use your current ID cards unless you or your employer
makes a change that would generate a new ID card (i.e. change of plan, family
status, primary care provider).
