CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Names Compliance Vice President

CareFirst named P. Todd Cioni to the new position of Vice President, Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Cioni comes to CareFirst from the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA), where he served as Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Enforcement.

OWINGS MILLS, MD (Monday, Nov. 24, 2008) - CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) has named P. Todd Cioni to the new position of Vice President, Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Cioni will lead and expand the company's existing government and corporate compliance efforts. Cioni comes to CareFirst from the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA), where he served as Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Enforcement.

“CareFirst has always had a strong focus on corporate compliance," said Sharon Vecchioni, CareFirst Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff. "By creating this new position and filling it with an individual as capable and experienced as Todd, CareFirst will be better positioned than ever on this front. Todd will have executive responsibility for developing, monitoring and updating our comprehensive government and corporate compliance plan."

Cioni spent nine years with the MIA, his last six in the role of Associate Commissioner. Prior to that, Cioni gained commercial health insurance experience with MAMSI, Principal Health Care of Delaware and United Healthcare. Cioni is a graduate of Western Maryland College and the University of Baltimore School of Law, and a member of the Maryland Bar Association. He is a resident of Towson.
