CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and has a strictly defined region (known as a service area) in which it can operate. The CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. service area encompasses Maryland, the District of Columbia and portions of northern Virginia.

The CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. service area includes:

  • Maryland
  • District of Columbia
  • the cities of Alexandria and Fairfax
  • the town of Vienna
  • Arlington County
  • the areas of Fairfax and Prince William Counties in Virginia lying east of Route 123

Gov. Kaine Praises CareFirst for Maternal Health Initiative in Northern Virginia
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is offering $1 million in grant funding for programs aimed at improving maternal and child health care in Northern Virginia. Proposals must be submitted by September 18, 2009.
