CareFirst received a “Best of the Blues” award presented in May by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association in recognition of the company’s marketing and communications related to introduction of “Individual Express,” an on-line sales resource. More than 100 competing entries were submitted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield organizations.

 

CareFirst’s Federal Employee Plan division received a fourth consecutive Blue Cross Blue Shield Association “High Performance/Low Cost” award in recognition of the division’s claims processing efficiency. The CareFirst FEP Plan, the largest health care plan for employees of the federal government, serves more than 520,000 members.

Capital Area Services Corporation, Inc., a CareFirst affiliate in Charleston, West Virginia, received an “Expect the Best” award from the Charleston Chamber of Commerce for promoting quality of life values in the community.

 

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association recognized superior marketing and communications performance by CareFirst in 2001 by presenting Brand Excellence Awards to the company’s affiliates in Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The awards are given annually on the basis of competitive ranking of all 62 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in the United States.
